Mrs. Delores Underwood



EDGEWATER, Fla. -- Mrs. Delores Jean Sapp Underwood, 64, of India Palm Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at First Baptist Church of Richmond, Va., with the Rev. Joseph Womack officiating. Burial was in Mount Vernon Memorial Park, Glen Allen, Va.

Mrs. Underwood, a native of Preston, Mo., was an elementary school teacher for 39 years. She taught at Curtis Baptist Elementary School from 1967 to 1971. She was a graduate of North Augusta High School and Baylor University, Waco, Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Edgewater, where she was an organist, and of Curtis Baptist Church, Augusta, where she played organ and piano.

The family said, "She loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart, mind and soul, loved to teach children and always put other people first."

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Ruth Underwood Reese, West Chester, Ohio, and Sharon Sue Underwood McCauley, Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Ralph Howard Sapp Jr. and Melvin Lee Sapp, both of North Augusta; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ralph Reese, William McCauley, Michael McCauley and Darin Franck.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Edgewater, 130 E. Park Ave., Edgewater, FL 32132.

Bliley Funeral Home, Richmond, was in charge of arrangements.
