Mrs. Maxine Roach



AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- Mrs. Maxine M. Hyer Roach, 74, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital, Jacksonville.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Amelia Plantation Chapel with the Rev. John Harland officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Oaklawn Cemetery, Jacksonville.

Mrs. Roach, a native of East Flat Rock, N.C., was a homemaker. She was a member of Amelia Plantation Chapel.

The family said, "She was a devoted wife and mother with a passion for flowers, especially hibiscus."

Survivors include her husband, Fleming D. Roach; two sons, Paul J. Hyer Jr., Charleston, S.C., and Scott N. Hyer, Jackson; a daughter, Joyce A. Hyer, Beech Island; a brother, Lee McCrary, East Flat Rock; a sister, Carrie Clark, East Flat Rock; and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
