SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Rolan Roberts scored 22 points and Virginia Tech beat Louisiana-Lafayette 59-56 Wednesday night in the third-place game of the San Juan Shootout.
Orlando Butler scored with 5:36 to play to give Louisiana-Lafayette (6-5) a 51-45 lead. The Hokies (6-4) then went on a 12-0 run capped by Dennis Mims' layup with 3:32 to play.
The Ragin Cajuns answered with a 5-0 run, including a three-point play by Lonnie Thomas with 1:29 left that made it 57-56.
But Roberts hit a jumper from the right side with 13 seconds left to seal the win.
Mims finished with 14 points and Brian Chase had 13 for Virginia Tech.
Butler had 13 points and Thomas added 11 for the Ragin Cajuns.
