CHICAGO -- Retired sports stars Michael Jordan, John Elway and Wayne Gretzky are teaming up to dispense advice and peddle sports and outdoor equipment on the Internet.
The trio today announced the formation of MVP.com, a Web site. Based in Chicago, it will be open for business in January.
"The opportunity to become a founding owner and give real input and advice are what attracted me to this new venture," Jordan, the former Chicago Bulls basketball star, said in a statement.
Elway, last year's Super Bowl MVP, will serve as chairman of the company. The other two stars will join him on an advisory board.
Former Sears, Roebuck & Co. Executive Vice President John Costello has been named chief executive officer.
Jordan, Elway and Gretzky, the National Hockey League's career scoring champion, retired from their respective sports earlier this year.
