Aiken Tech wins a rout

AIKEN -- Aiken Tech's Knights, ahead of Truett-McConnell by 20 points at halftime, never let up in romping to their 12th straight victory Saturday in what coach Charles Welch called "our best game of the season."

The Knights, ranked eighth in the nation in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division II poll, played great defense and held their opponents to 22 second-half points.

"When our game comes together like it did today, we'll be tough to beat," Welch said. "Our defense is always there, but our offense has a habit of coming and going."

Lamaas Barefield led the Knights, who hit on nine three-point field goals, with 13 points and Tuffy Walker added 12.
