Fishing tournament information



Sponsoring a bass, crappie, catfish or other fishing tournament? Mail or fax your flyer or information to Outdoor Editor, The Augusta Chronicle, P.O. Box 1928, Augusta, Ga. 30903-1928. Fax number: (706) 823-3408. Tournament reports must include first and last names of the participants, total numbers of fish caught and participants and total weight of the catch.

Martinez Bassmasters
Open Team Tournament
Dec. 4, 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fort Gordon Recreation Area

Entry fee is $40 per boat, with $5 per person big fish pot. Eighty percent payback and one big fish pot. One-place payback for every 10 boats. Five-bass limit per team. David Whyte, five bass, 15.40 pounds. Byron Smith, five bass, 8.70 pounds. Joe Ludwig, five bass, 7.88 pounds. Big fish: Whyte, 6.82 pounds. Fifteen fishermen caught 42 bass totaling 68.43 pounds and most were released alive.

Entry fee $25. Regular tournaments are sponsored by Chuck's Lakeside Marine and Willoughby Ford of Thomson, Ga., and will be held every Saturday from safe light until 3 p.m. Tournaments will not be held when dates conflict with Clark Hill Committee events. Classic will be held next February with a guaranteed purse of $2,000 for first-place team. from safe light a.m. until 4 p.m. Entry fee is $50 per team, $10 of which goes into the big fish pot.
