AIKEN -- Mrs. Essie Mae Settles, 92, of Laurens Street North, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center.
The funeral will be at noon Friday at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Slaughter officiating. Burial will be in Jessamine Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Settles, a native of Aiken, was a homemaker. She was a member of Willing Works Club and Young Ladies of Honor Society. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she was a member of the deaconess board and was the former mother of the church.
Survivors include a son, Alvin Settles Jr., Aiken; a daughter, Mary Frances Adams, Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Emma Jane Sanders, New York, and Lona Bell Robinson, Aiken; and nine grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Second Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the residence of Alvin Settles Jr., 342 Perrin Street N.W.; from 7-8 p.m. today at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home; or at 2 p.m. today or from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at the church.
