Business briefs: Gas company opens information booths



ATLANTA -- SCANA Energy, the state's second-largest natural gas marketer, has placed information booths in Kroger stores statewide to make bill payments and customer service inquiries more readily available.

SCANA opened information kiosks Tuesday in the Kroger store on Wrightsboro Road in Augusta and on Washington Road in Evans. The kiosks will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will be staffed by personnel from Powertel Inc., a PCS telecommunications provider partnering with SCANA for the new service.

Tenneco Packaging ends spinoff

Tenneco Packaging recently completed its spinoff from Tenneco Inc. It was purchased by Pactic Corp., a Lake Forest, Ill.-based specialty packaging company with $3 billion in revenues.

The spinoff was approved by the Tenneco board of directors in October. The company has a plant in Beech Island, S.C.

March of Dimes honors Realtor

The March of Dimes presented its Real Estate Breakfast Award on Tuesday to E.G. Meybohm of Meybohm Realtors for his efforts to enhance the local community through the real estate industry.

The March of Dimes campaign raised $15,000 for the organization's healthier babies project. The ceremony was attended by 250 people.

Meybohm Realtors is the largest real estate company in Georgia outside of Atlanta. Mr. Meybohm received the award for contributing to the campaign through real estate development and community projects.
