The big screen



POKEMON: THE FIRST MOVIE: Pikachu, Ash and Mewtwo join other popular characters from the hit anime TV program Pokemon in a full-length film.

LIGHT IT UP: A group of students at an inner city school take a policeman hostage after he is injured in an accidental shooting. The kids are sick of the condition of their school, and things intensify when they get media attention. Starring Usher Raymond (The Faculty) and Vanessa L. Williams (Soul Food).

ANYWHERE BUT HERE: Susan Sarandon and Natalie Portman play a mother and teen-age daughter who move from a small Midwestern town to Los Angeles. The move takes their relationship to a new level.

DOGMA: Kevin Smith (Chasing Amy) directs Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Linda Fiorentino in this religious satire. The movie also stars Chris Rock, Janeane Garofalo, Salma Hayak and Jason Lee.


Note: Pokemon opens Wednesday. Other movies are scheduled to open Friday. Openings are subject to change.
