Protests critical comment about Citadel

I enjoy reading The Chronicle, including "Dorsey's Picks" and comments about upcoming college and pro-football games. However, the Oct. 22 "Dorsey's Picks" made a comment about The Citadel being a "fake military" (school). What would motivate him to make a derogatory comment like that about a college while making football predictions?

The Citadel, like West Point, is not and never will be a major football power. However, if the average SAT test scores of The Citadel athletes are compared with those of the major football powerhouses, I believe Mr. Dorsey would have chosen to use another adjective to describe The Citadel. To give Mr. Dorsey his due, he did predict a win by Georgia Southern over The Citadel.

As a 1952 Citadel graduate and a participant in the Korean War (having lost a number of my classmates in this so-called "conflict" as well as Vietnam), my opinion is that most people with an average IQ would not consider The Citadel as a "fake military."
