Rod Daggett, Josey, junior, WR/CB
Daggett scored four times, including two touchdowns in the final eight minutes to help Josey power past Westside 42-7 Friday night. With his team holding a 12-7 lead late in the game, Josey quarterback Marvin Stone and wideouts Stephen Drew and Daggett put the game out of reach with a touchdown in the final quarter. Stone fired a screen pass to Drew, who then fired a bullet pass to Daggett who was wide open in the end zone. Daggett finished the night with four catches for 72 yards and caught touchdown passes of 45, 6 and 17 yards. He scored the Eagles' final touchdown on a 24-yard fumble recovery.
Daggett plays both ways for the Eagles and has become one of quarterback Marvin Stone's favorite targets this season. The junior has seven catches for 93 yards in two games this season.
Josey coach Tommy Macon on Daggett:
"Rod is one of our best route runners and I thought (since we'd run so much in the game), we could work on that corner and that we could get the ball to Daggett. He was wide open in the end zone."
