SPRINGFIELD, S.C. -- Mr. Paul N. Smith Sr., 81, of 115 Louisiana St., died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Rosemont Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Archer officiating.
Mr. Smith, a native of Charlotte, N.C., had retired from Aiken Vocational School, where he taught drafting. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a charter member of the Newberry National Guard. He was a member of Springfield First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Kennerley Smith; three sons, Robert K. Smith, Springfield, P. Neal Smith Jr., Augusta, and David M. Smith, North Augusta; nine brothers, Emerson Smith, Carlsbad, Calif., Hubert Smith, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Bob Smith, Peachtree, Bill Smith, Winston-Salem, N.C., Dick Smith, Marietta, Eugene Smith, Clifton, N.J., Haywood Smith, Norcross, Charlie Smith, Houston, and Morris Z. Smith, Sherril's Ford, N.C.; two sisters, Hulda Gaines, Friendswood, Texas, and Virginia Rink, Charlotte, N.C.; and four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. P. Neal Smith Jr., 1119 Milledge Road, Augusta, and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.
