Mr. John Anthony, 83, of 2526 Milledgeville Road, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at Beverly Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Beulah Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Davis officiating. Burial will be in McElmurray Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Burke County.
Mr. Anthony, a native of Burke County, had retired as a presser. He was a member of Allen Chapel Baptist Church, Burke County.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Anthony; four sons, Clinton Anthony, Columbus, Miss., John Elmer Anthony Jr., Bronx, N.Y., and Elmer Anthony and Edward Lee Anthony, both of Augusta; eight daughters, Judy Lawrence, Mattie Anthony, Bertha Crowell, Louise Anthony and Annie Anthony, all of Huntington Station, N.Y., Mary Anthony Williams, Bronx, and Barbara Ann Burke and Christine Michelle Anthony, both of Augusta; a stepson, Frank White, Philadelphia; three brothers, Mitchell Scott and Ernest Scott, both of Philadelphia, and Cleveland Scott, Augusta; four sisters, Susie Bell Brigham, Augusta, Johnnie Mae Mathis, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Lillie Heradon and Lottie Mae Scott, both of Amityville, N.Y.; and 56 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
