CHARLESTON, W.V. -- The Augusta GreenJackets increased their ead in the South Atlantic League's southern division to three games with a 3-2 victory over the Charleston, W.V., Alley Cats on Sunday.
Macon, which came into Sunday's play two games behind Augusta, lost to Asheville 9-1 on Sunday.
Savannah, a 6-0 winner over Hickory, is 3 1/2 games off the pace. Augusta is at Savannah for a three-game series starting tonight.
Augusta's victory allowed the GreenJackets to split the four-game set with the Alley Cats. Charleston won the first two games.
The GreenJackets have eight games left in the second half of the season. They must win the second-half title to make the playoffs.
