Louisville, Ga. -- Mr. Willis Loyd, of 1195 Handy St., died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at Old Capital Inn. He was 104.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jones Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Dudley and William Habersham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Loyd, a native of Jefferson County, had retired as a farmer. He was a member of Jones Grove Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for 78 years.
The family said:"He witnessed historical events we can only read about, heard beginning shots of two world wars and glimpsed true freedom. He lived with the knowledge that God controlled man's destiny."
Survivors include a daughter, Gladys Barther, Miami; a brother, Jim Loyd, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Willie Lee Boyd, Frank Boyd, Larry Boyd, John Loyd, William Loyd, Jim Loyd Jr., Randolph Murphy and Walter Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Jones Grove Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the residence or at Davis Funeral Home.
