BARNWELL, S.C. -- Mr. Wade Floyd "W.F." Babb, 93, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. John Nixon, Rommie Martin and John Nixon and Chaplain Mary Haddox officiating.
Mr. Babb, a native of Spartanburg County, had retired from Savannah River Plant as an auto mechanic after 19 years. He was the former owner of Babb's Garage in Woodruff and Babb's Fix-It Shop, and he was a licensed federal gunsmith. He was a graduate of Nashville Automotive College and a former employee of the South Carolina State Highway Maintenance Shop, Greenwood. During World War II, he worked at the Norfolk Naval Yard as a machinist. He was a member of the World-Wide Church of God.
Survivors includehis wife, Eunice K. Babb; two sons, James A. "Jim" Babb and William E. "Bill" Babb, both of Barnwell; a daughter, Claire B. Creech, Barnwell; two stepsons, Ernest Padgett, Aiken, and Steve Padgett, Barnwell; a stepdaughter, Ima Jean Still, Barnwell; two sisters, Ila B. Claxton, Foley, Ala., and Alluwee B. Sox, Kenly, N.C.; and five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, 11 stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Palmetto Hospice of Bamberg.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Mole Funeral Home.
