Mr. Alphonso "Al" Wooden, 50, of 3446 Applejack Terrace, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Old Macedonia Baptist Church, Edgefield County, S.C., with the Rev. Limuer Myers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Wooden, a native of Richmond County, was a foreman at International Paper Co. for 32 years. He was a 1966 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Bannker Lodge 3, Free and Accepted Masons and was a member of Old Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Mae Wooden; a son, Torice O. Sullivan, Jacksonville, Fla.; four daughters, Gwendolyn Wooden, Carolyn Wooden and Angla D. Sullivan, all of Augusta, and Jacquelyn "Jackie" Wright, Hephzibah; his mother, Georgia Wooden; a brother, George L. Wooden, Lanham, Md.; two sisters, Jeannette July and Sarah Holmes, both of Augusta; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his brothers-in-law and deacons of Old Macedonia Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Bannker Lodge 3, employees of International Paper Co. and members of the Lucy C. Laney High School Class of 1966.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
