Augusta's Taylor leads Hooters Tour Classic

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Augusta's Vaughn Taylor fired his second straight 6-under par 66 Saturday to take a two-stroke lead in the Hooters Tour Classic at Echo Farms Golf Club.

Taylor, at 16-under-par 200 after 54 holes, leads Jason Buha of Atlanta, who is at 14-under 202 after a 2-under 70.

A former Augusta State golfer in his first year as a pro, Taylor had six birdies and no bogeys on his round at the 7,004-yard Echo Farms course.

The winner of today's tournament will pick up a check for $15,000.

A week ago, Taylor also was 16-under par after 54 holes in the Hooters tournament in Raeford, N.C., and was second to Tim Straub by a stroke.

Taylor fell off the pace in the final round with a 2-over 74 to finish in a tie for fourth. He won $3,240 as Straub held on to take the victory.
