ABBEVILLE, Ga. -- Mr. James "Jimmy" Verlin Wood, 63, of Route 1 Box 285, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Friendship Baptist Church, Pineview, with the Revs. Jerry Jarrell and Robin Iedder and Dr. Ray Coleman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Wood, a native of Wilcox County, was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a former Sunday school teacher. He was a farmer and had retired from civil service in the Engineering Department.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Guy Wood; a son, James V. Wood Jr., Abbeville; two daughters, Robin McGuinty, Rochelle, and Jennifer Phillips, Pitts; his mother, Ruth Cook Wood Blizzard, Pineview; a sister, Bobbie Ruth Lawhead, Evans; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Marlin Killiebrew, Jay Bloodsworth, Jerry Rhodes, Billy Hawkins, Sonny Dunaway, Glenn Peavy, Charles Brady and Kelsie Brady.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Frazier and Sons Funeral Home.
