Mr. Dexter Poss Sr.



THOMSON, Ga. -- Mr. Dexter Cicero Poss Sr., 69, of 1663 Whiteoak Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Westview Cemetery with the Revs. Dave Sandridge and Kenneth Garvin officiating.

Mr. Poss, a native of Muscogee County, was a high school teacher and served in the Army. He was a member of the Thomson Lions Club, Thomson Country Club and the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association. He was a member of South Summerville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Poss; three sons, Ty Poss, Ky Poss and Guy Poss, all of Thomson; two daughters, Chery Bodger and Nadja Matthews, both of Cerritos, Calif.; two brothers, Varnell Poss, Charleston, S.C., and George W. "Sonny" Poss, Thomson; a sister, Betty Jean Gunby, Thomson; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Foundation/Inpatient Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904; or MCG Children's Medical Center, 1446 Harper St., BT 1847, Augusta, GA 30912.

Friends may call at the residence.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Curtis Funeral Home.
