Wants to keep prayer voluntary

A big "right-on" to David Sisler in his recent column, "Lawmakers can't legislate eternal safety."

As a believer in Jesus Christ, I wish that everyone would be a believer in Him, and pray that all will become believers. But, when "faith" is made the rule of law, the result is the Spanish Inquisition. Besides, school prayer has never been unconstitutional -- it is only official, mandated prayers that are denied by the Supreme Court.

We used to laugh at the bumper sticker which said, "As long as there are tests, there will be prayer in school." Sadly, today we can add "gunmen." Keep prayer voluntary. Keep it a matter of the heart. That is the only real kind of praying, anyway.
