FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Augusta GreenJackets gave Cape Fear a Fourth of July show on Sunday.
Alex Ahumada and Jeffrey Key both homered, and the GreenJackets (7-4 second half) pounded out 16 hits in an 11-2 win over Cape Fear Sunday evening at J.P. Riddle Stadium.
Red-hot third baseman Angel Santos went 3-for-5 with a double and a RBI, while catcher Andrew Larned, making a rare start, had a career-high four hits.
Augusta scored six runs in the top of the second inning to jump out to a 6-1 lead. Ahumada sparked the surge with a two-run blast as the GreenJackets scored all of their runs with two outs.
Starter Greg Miller (5-4) pitched five innings and gave up one earned run on three hits to pick up the win. Matt Phillips and Alex Lontayo combined to allow just one earned run in four innings of relief.
Augusta sends the hottest pitcher in the South Atlantic League, Jason Norton (4-2), to the mound tonight in Game 3 of the series.
