On my summer vacation ...

VACATIONERS:

Anne Sawyer of North Augusta, Mike Murphy and Judy Murphy of Augusta, Brenda Marshall and Marie Smith of Evans, Joyce Barinowski of North Augusta and Perry Barinowski and Sherry Barinowski of Rome, Ga.

DESTINATION:

Israel -- one night in Tel Aviv by the Mediterranean Sea, two nights in Tiberias and five nights in Jerusalem.

DATE OF TRIP:

March 1999

THE BEST THING WE ATE:

Fresh fruits and salads at all meals, and falafel.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING WE SAW:

The Sea of Galilee, the Mount of Beatitudes covered with yellow wildflowers and Jerusalem at night looking from the 16th floor of the most beautiful YMCA in the world.

THE BIGGEST INCONVENIENCE:

After returning to the States via New York, our flight to Augusta was canceled, and we had to dash from JFK to La Guardia to make the flight home.

THE THING WE WILL REMEMBER MOST ABOUT THE TRIP:

Visiting sites related to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Going to the Garden of Gethsemane, seeing the Place of the Skull (Calvary, where he was crucified) and going into the empty Garden Tomb.

FOR OUR NEXT TRIP:

Visit Greece, Turkey and other sites related to biblical history.
