WAYNESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Willie Young, 81, of 160 Childers Circle, died Thursday, May 27, 1999, in Riverdale.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Third Chapel Baptist Church, Midville, with the Rev. L.E. Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Young, a native of Burke County, had retired from the Burke County Board of Education as a school bus driver and from President Bakery, Augusta. He was a member and deacon of Roberson Grove Baptist Church, where he was a former church treasurer and sang in the senior choir.
Survivors include seven sons, Willie James Young, Johnny Young and Israel Young, all of Riverdale, Jack Young, William Young and Larry Young, all of Newark, N.J., and Albert Young, Monmouth Junction, N.J.; six daughters, Rosa Young and Mary Blassingame, both of Jonesboro, Willie Mae Sapp, Augusta, Frankie Rucker, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Leatha Sharpe, Waynesboro, and Caroline Davis, Newark; an adopted daughter, Daisy Zimmerman, Waynesboro; and 32 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his sons.
Friends may call at the residence or at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home.
A wake service will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
