SYLVANIA, Ga. -- Mr. James Lee Phillips, 70, died Friday, May 28, 1999, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home with the Revs. Vernon Edenfield and Karen Zeigler officiating. Burial will be in Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Phillips, a native of Lenoir, N.C., had retired from Union Camp Paper Co. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of McBride United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sanders Phillips; a daughter, Cheryl P. Hopkins, Sylvania; three brothers, Robert "Bobby" Phillips, Sylvania, Raymond Phillips, Jacksonville, Fla., and Lex Phillips, Lenoir; a sister, Betty Jean Spencer, Montgomery, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joey Phillips, Robbie Phillips, Timmy Joe Owens, Gary Scott, Alan Reddick, Stewart Thompson and Wendell Phillips.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
