RALEIGH, N.C. -- Clemson started the scoring with three homers but broke open a 4-4 tie with two runs in the seventh off a ground out and a bloop single to beat North Carolina State in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Tigers (34-22, 13-10 ACC) saw Jason Harris and Derek Borgert lead off the second inning with home runs to center field. The Tigers added an unearned run in the inning on a walk, a sacrifice and a pair of Wolfpack errors.
Calitri led off the Clemson fourth with a solo shot off the scoreboard in left-center field to make it 4-0.
N.C. State's Todd DeMakes laced a solo homer to center in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the Wolfpack on the scoreboard. Brian Ward added a three-run shot in the fifth inning to tie the score.
In the seventh, Henri Stanley walked and went to third on Patrick Boyd's double. Stanley scored on Kurt Bultman's groundout to shortstop. Boyd scored on a Harris' blooper to left center field.
Starter Mike Proto (1-0) got the win for Clemson, his first decision in 32 career appearances. Reliever Grant Dorn (2-4) took the loss for the Wolfpack (35-21, 11-13).
