LINCOLNTON, Ga. -- Mr. Bobby L. "Cowboy" Mercer, 59, of 1060-A Parks Road, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital, Augusta.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Faith Temple with the Rev. Addison Belangia officiating. Burial will be in Lincolnton City Cemetery.
Mr. Mercer, a native of Wamego, Kan., was a mechanic for Reed Trucking Co. An Air Force veteran, he had lived in Lincolnton for 22 years. He had worked for Wells Oil Co. and W.H. Harden Shows for many years. During that time, he was a stunt driver, race car driver and rodeo rider.
The family said, "He was a rancher at heart, having grown up in Kansas on a ranch."
Survivors include his wife, Catherine "Sam" Mercer; two daughters, Tammy Capri and Brenda Smith, both of Kansas; four stepchildren; a sister, Uvonna Daniels, Virginia Beach, Va.; and 10 grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Carter, Tutt Dunaway, Phil McGahee, Billy Morrison, Kenneth Reed and Alton Wells.
Friends may call at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Phil McGahee, 2111 Chamberlain Ferry Road, or from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Beggs Funeral Home.
