WRENS, Ga. -- Mr. Willis A. Gay, 82, of 3521 Jessie James Pond Road, died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at James & Lowe Funeral Home with the Revs. Paul Moore and Michael L. Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Baptist Church Cemetery, Matthews.
Mr. Gay, a native of Jefferson, had retired as a farmer and carpenter. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was an anti-aircraft artillery gun crewman. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, EAMET Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Ricky Willis Gay, Wrens; two brothers, Judson Gay, Augusta, and William Cave, Connecticut; and six sisters, Myra Wheeler, Keysville, Macy Maddox, Atlanta, Emma Jane Massa, Baxter, Tenn., Anna Marie Holley, Martinez, Ruby Fielder, Sherman, Texas, and Margie Blackmon, Trenton, S.C.
Pallbearers will be Max Arrington, Mark James, C.W. Welch, David Welch, Victory Arrington and Grayland Poole.
Friends may call at the residence of Brenda Newsome, 1600 Omaha Spring Road, Avera.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
