Blackville-Hilda just jumped a hurdle it has been trying to clear for the past two years, but the race isn't over and the Lady Hawks attempt to clear their next hurdle tonight in the Class A Upper State championship against Lewisville.
The Lady Hawks (22-4) square off with Lewisville (21-5) tonight at 7 p.m. at Spring Valley High in Columbia.
In the nightcap at 8:30 p.m., Denmark-Olar (27-5) will play Great Falls in the Class A boys Upper State final.
Denmark-Olar reached the boys' Final Four with a 55-53 victory over McCormick last Friday night.
The Lady Hawks are coming off an emotional 66-40 thrashing of two-time defending state champions Estill. "I hope our intensity is still there after that win," coach Farrell Zissette said. "Lewisville is a good team. They wouldn't be in the Final Four if they weren't."
If Blackville-Hilda and Denmark-Olar emerge with victories tonight, they will play for their respective state titles on Saturday in Columbia's Carolina Coliseum.
