Lions gain Final 4 in state play



MACON, Ga. -- Augusta Christian's Lions have two games to go, and counting.

The Lions romped 74-41 over Athens Christian in the quarterfinals of the Georgia Independent School Association Class AAA state playoffs Saturday at Stratford Academy.

The victory moved them into the state Final Four at the Centennial Center in Milledgeville where they will play Deerfield-Windsor Academy next Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Augusta Christian, 26-2, dashed to a 42-13 halftime lead and never was threatened.

Curtis Woods led the way with 17 points, Joey Isaac added 11 and James Seegars 10.

Lions coach Mike Gold was able to play most of his bench during the game.
