Mrs. Hazel Salmon



Mrs. Hazel Grimes Salmon, 79, of 1215 Monte Sano Ave., died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at her residence.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with the Rev. P. James Costigan officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Salmon, a native of Birmingham, Ala., had retired from the Augusta National Golf Club as a press secretary after 30 years. She was a member of the St. Joseph Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary and St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Salmon Hutchison, Janet Salmon Lovering and Mary Jean Salmon Garren, all of Augusta, and Joan Salmon Bass, Atlanta; a brother, John Joseph Grimes, Orange Beach, Fla.; and 21 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Samuel W. Mays, Stephen Arthur Lovering, James Timothy Garren Jr., George Perryman Ryan, Earle W. Lovering Jr., Justin David Harbeson and Russell Cooke Coble III.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2623 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904, or to St. Joseph Hospital, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.

Friends may call at the residence.

A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue.
