Suspects Social Security reforms 021599 - The Augusta Chronicle

Everyone in Congress is talking about "saving" the Social Security fund. It sounds great, but is that what they really want?

After raiding the Social Security fund of $655 billion they gave themselves a fat raise of $3,000 a month, wasting more of our retirement money on funding the National Endowment for the Arts, wasting some more on the U.N. military while neglecting our forces and balancing the budget. The Democrats now claim they have balanced the budget. Yes, and we seniors are paying for it.

After Congress voted to impeach President Bill Clinton, all the Democrats gathered on the White House lawn to show solidarity with Mr. Clinton. Do they all agree with his lying, his sexual history, his action on homosexuals, "Chinagate" and many more scandals? They do show support for a man who is a disgrace to the office of the presidency, who is selling this country to the United Nations and has no regard for the U.S. Constitution. If this is the moral fiber of our congressmen and congresswomen, then I will ask God to have mercy on this country.

Mr. Clinton is for abortion, and millions of babies are slaughtered in this country. Has America become the Sodom and Gomorrah? Will history repeat itself?

I believe Congress should cut its salaries to below $80,000 a year to be more in line with the average pay scale and that they should pay into Social Security like the rest of us. This will stop them from stealing from their own retirement fund. They should also lose their own retirement pensions, which have become a national scandal. ...

It is indeed a very sad state of affairs that we cannot even rely on our own government to get a fair shake. Former-President Franklin Roosevelt would turn in his grave.
