After listening to Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, on Wednesday giving his speech that he intends to give to the Senate during closed proceedings, I find the need to write. If this is an example of why these Democratic senators defy the sanctity of the oath and vote acquittal, they are truly victims. I believe history will record their vote for all time, and we must truly pity them.
For many years, I have had the greatest respect for Sen. Fritz Hollings, D-S.C. I voted for him in the last election.
I know he probably would consider my opinion of small importance since he is a Democrat and will certainly vote for acquittal of my president. I would like to say that I no longer respect Sen. Hollings because I believe in our Constitution and the impeachment process as it was written.
He, on the other hand, does not believe in the sanctity of the oath and is certainly among the latest victims of William Jefferson Clinton. All the money in his campaign finance chest cannot buy him back his honor.
