AIKEN -- Ms. Katharine F. Woolsey, 89, of 2001 Banks Mill Road, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at her residence.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at All Saints Anglican Church with the Rev. Garrett Clanton officiating. Burial will be in Woolsey Family Cemetery, Glen Cove, Long Island, N.Y.
Ms. Woolsey, a native of Aiken, was one of the first female students of Aiken Preparatory School and attended the original Aiken Elementary School on Whiskey Road. She was a graduate of the Roberts-Beech School, Catonsville, Md.
She completed a Fanny Farmer correspondence course in candy-making and sold candy under the trade name `Handmaid Candies' across the South for 30 years. She was a member of the Aiken garden club and had been a member of Aiken's first Girl Scout troop. She was a member of All Saints Anglican Church.
Survivors include two nephews, Charles R. Fliflet, Aiken, and Arne W. Fliflet, Alexandria, Va.; and a niece, Katharine E. Fliflet-Mirkin, Santa Barbara, Calif.
Memorials may be made to All Saints Anglican Church or to the Woolsey Fund at Aiken Preparatory School.
The family will receive friends at the church after the service.
