Fort Valley State punishes Paine men, women



FORT VALLEY, Ga. -- Fort Val ley State's Wildcats proved too strong for Paine, handing the Lions their 12th defeat in 23 starts on Wednesday night.

Paine trailed by only nine points at halftime, but the Wildcats dominated the boards and hit crucial free throws.

DeVenchie Battle was the only Lion to make double figures, with 11. Tracy Kitchens led the Wildcats with 17 points, Regginal Foster added 16 and Zedrick Smith 13, with 10 rebounds.

The Paine women fell behind 37-6 at halftime in dropping their 14th straight game.

Charlene Williams, LaKisha Love, Jamie McDonald and Terri Mitchell each had 10 for the winners, 23-2.

Morris College visits Paine in the Lions' homecoming games on Saturday. The games will be played at Augusta State Athletic Complex.
