MIAMI -- Cher plans to dress up -- completely -- to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl.
"I want to be really respectful of the song. I will be completely covered," said the 52-year-old diva, who's been known to show some skin during performances. "I probably won't be wearing black spandex.
"This is the biggest single honor I've ever had."
Cher said Tuesday she plans to do her best belting out "The Star-Spangled Banner," considered one of the toughest musical arrangements to master.
Like other singers, she has recorded the song with an 80-piece orchestra at the request of game officials. She's not sure whether she will sing it live or lip sync.
"This is my first time. It's a difficult song to sing," said Cher, who won an Oscar for her performance in "Moonstruck." "I worked with my teachers a lot on this. I wanted to learn it to interpret it in my own way."
After singing at Sunday's game, Cher will hop a flight to the West Coast to begin work on a video at 6 a.m. Monday morning, leaving little time to party at trendy South Beach nightclubs.
"There will be little time to get into trouble," Cher said.
