In the boldest airline move yet to coerce Internet ticket sales, Delta has imposed a $1-per-segment fee on any domestic airline ticket purchased via any means other than Delta's Web site.
This includes tickets purchased via travel agents, Delta phone reservationists and counter staff and independent Web agents like Preview Travel or Travelocity.
The airline says the move targets rising costs, including escalating computer reservation system fees -- odd, since airlines own the CRSs.
For a non-wired couple taking a connecting flight round trip, the fees would add $8 to the cost of flying Delta.
