WASHINGTON, Ga. -- Mr. Dennis Warren Hopkins, 76, of 909 E. Robert Toombs Ave., died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at University Hospital.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Washington First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Mark Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
Mr. Hopkins, a native of Wilkes County, had retired as owner and operator of Washington Dry Cleaners after 35 years. He graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics, Tulsa, Okla., in 1945 and served on the Washington-Wilkes Airport Commission for 14 years. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II and a member of Washington First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Johnson Hopkins; two sons, Dennis W. Hopkins Jr., Centreville, Va., and Clifford A. Hopkins, Hilton Head Island, S.C.; two daughters, Joy H. Goodrick, Marietta, and Kay H. Sauls, Powder Springs; three brothers, Carl Scott Hopkins and Vernon W. Hopkins, both of Washington, and Hudson Hopkins, Thomson; a sister, Lucy Nell H. Gill, Lavonia; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason Hopkins, Blake Hopkins, Don Goodrick, Johnsy Hopkins, Edward B. Pope III and Kevin Hopkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Jesse Mercer Sunday School Class .
