Mr. James Alton Thomas Sr., 95, of 1330 Laney-Walker Blvd., died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at Columbia-Augusta Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Gilbert Lambuth Chapel, with the Rev. J. Ranzall Maness officiating. Burial will be in Walker Memorial Park.
Mr. Thomas, a native of Cusetta, Ga., has retired as principle at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School and was a member of Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where he was a steward emeritus.
Survivors include his wife, Patience "Pat" Thomas; a son, Bert T. Thomas; and two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Roy Jones, Doug McKenzie, Osborne Nesbitt, William Gilyard III, D'Henri Thurmond, Bernard Roberson, Jesse Norman and Roscoe Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the steward and trustee boards of the Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, the Ambassadors Bridge Club and former faculty members and students of Sleepy Hollow Elementary School.
