I am in total agreement with Jack Hobbs' Nov. 20 letter. It seems like a lot of the people in Washington who are there to represent us do a poor job.
Most of them have not even been in the military, but they sure like the thought of the military keeping them safe. It would be fair to say that our men and women in Congress should step forward and do all they can to protect our military benefits that were promised.
I retired 31 years ago and I have been watching the benefits being whittled away. One of my military friends who is also retired has to pay $480 per year to be treated by the military.
They did not tell me, and all the others, that this would take place. We were cajoled to re-enlist.
Now it is difficult to get people to enter the military service as they can see how we, the retired folks, are being treated. I vote and I write many letters, just like Mr. Hobbs -- but sometimes I wonder what good it does!
