LINCOLNTON, Ga. -- Mr. W. Homer Moss, of 215 Dallas St., died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at Columbia-Augusta Medical Center, Augusta. He was 79.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lincolnton United Methodist Church with the Revs Richard Broom, Elvyn McDonald and Leo Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Lincolnton City Cemetery.
Mr. Moss, a lifelong resident of Lincolnton, had served on the Lincolnton City Council for 31 years. An Army veteran of World War II, he was former co-owner of H.W. Moss & Son Appliance and had retired as a salesman for Charles S. Martin Distributors. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 194 and Lincolnton United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board in several positions. He was a former member of United Methodist Church Men's Club, where he served as treasurer for many years.
Survivors include his wife, LeVerte Drinkard Moss; three sons, William H. "Billy" Moss Jr., Commerce, James David Moss, Martinez, and Lee D. Moss, Lincolnton; two daughters, Carol M. Brittain, Gray, and LeVerte M. Hayes, Lincolnton; a brother, Robert W. Moss, Plains; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Harold Goldman, Gene Goldman, Jeff Moss, Robert Moss, Buddy Moss, Bobby Hawes, Walker T. Norman and Alex Willingham.
