OSTRAVA, Czech Republic -- Andre Agassi beat Wayne Black of Zimbabwe 7-6 (7-2),6-3 Saturday in the semifinals of the $1 million Czech Indoor ATP tournament.
Jan Kroslak of Slovakia won the other berth in Sunday's finals when an ankle injury forced Sweden's Thomas Enqvist out of their match after seven games.
By beating Black, Agassi gained a place in the eight-player ATP Tour World Championship next month in Hanover, Germany.
Agassi and Black started their match with patient, powerful baseline tennis, but Agassi gradually got the upper hand thanks to his precise returns and he broke Black's serve in the sixth game.
Black got back into the set two games later when he rebroke and tied at 4-4 after several precise volleys.
The set was decided in a tie-break, dominated by Agassi, who allowed Black just two points.
Kroslak, who will be in his first finals of the year, was less than pleased at how he did it.
"I played very well but I can't really count this as a victory. It's a shame," he said.
