Supports 'talented' mayoral candidate 102498 - The Augusta Chronicle

I have known Augusta mayoral candidate Bob Young for 10 years.I had the privilege to go with him to Taiwan to invite the Taiwanese government to send their Little League baseball team to Augusta to practice here before the Little League World Series Championship in Williamsport, Pa., in 1994. The Taiwan teams had won the championships a number of times.

I was asked to go to talk baseball and arrange for any training needs they might have. I played professional baseball for a few years, prior to going into medicine.

Mr. Young arranged the trip through his contacts in Taiwan and used his influence to arrange meetings with the government and their baseball executive. His knowledge and demeanor opened the doors for us to present our proposals.

We are most fortunate to have a man of his talents, ability, initiative and sincerity to run for mayor of this fine city. His abilities will be a tremendous asset to promote Augusta into the new millennium.

I ask the people of Augusta to listen to him, ask him questions and, if you see what I see, support him in this election.
