Bean wants rematch with Holyfield

WASHINGTON -- Butch Lewis, promoter for heavyweight Vaughn Bean, said Thursday the defeated challenger should get an immediate rematch with champion Evander Holyfield.

Lewis served notice that he intends to file a formal protest with the IBF and WBA against referee Brian Garry, who officiated Saturday night's fight in Atlanta.

Lewis said Garry favored Holyfield throughout the fight "by not penalizing him for the numerous and clearly blatant fouls he committed as early as the second round."

The promoter said Holyfield fouled Vaughn with his elbows, head butts and low blows.

Lewis said Bean felt he was treated unfairly in the champion's hometown.

`It was the same scenario for Mike Tyson when he complained of Holyfield's head butts and nothing was done about it," Bean was quoted as saying in a statement issued by Lewis.

"In frustration, he ended up biting his ear off."
