Mr. William Ivie



DEARING -- Mr. William L. "Bill" Ivie, 68, of Hobbs Mill Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson, with the Rev. Ron Drawdy officiating.

Mr. Ivie, a native of Greene County, was an Army veteran of the Korean and the Vietnam wars, and received the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He retired from service with the rank of sergeant.

Survivors include two sons, Tony Ivie and David Ivie, both of Dearing; a daughter, Kaye Callier, Atlanta; his mother, Clarice O. Ivie, Greensboro; a brother, Bobby Ivie, Austin, Texas; three sisters, Elisa Channell and Peggy Harris, both of Greensboro, and Dorothy James, Athens; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of a military honor guard.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson.
