Just when most TV viewers are hoping for some leadership in the television industry that will lift us out of the morass of coarse, common programming that has been taking over, WRDW-Channel 10 has a schedule change in the works. Live with Regis and Kathy Lee has been canceled, to be replaced in a week or two by a talk show featuring Roseanne Barr. (You might remember her from the sitcom about the Connor family, and her infamous rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at the ballpark.)
When I called the station, the reason given for the change was that the local station determined there wasn't enough demand in the area for Live.
Am I to believe that the tastes of the people who watch TV at 10 a.m. in our area are more akin to Ms. Barr than to Mr. Philbin and Ms. Gifford? I don't think so!
I'll be writing a letter to the program director at WRDW voicing my concern that they are taking a step in the wrong direction. Care to join me?
