AIKEN -- Mr. Donald Steele Webster, 80, of 4271 Vancluse Road, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A private burial will be held at a later date in Wellsboro, Pa.
Mr. Webster, a native of Wellsboro, had retired as deputy director of chemical engineering with Argonne National Laboratories at the University of Chicago. He was an engineer for the DuPont Company's "Manhattan Project" at the University of Chicago. He was a former research manager at the Savannah River Plant. He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Webster was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Nuclear Society, American Chemical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is listed in Who's Who in Men of Science.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Allen Webster; one son, Richard Ingersoll Webster, Aiken; one stepson, Edward Allen Herre, Gamboa, Panama; two stepdaughters, Helen Herre Harrison, Berkeley, Calif., and Joan Herre Erwin, New Hill, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
