Mr. James K. Richards, 71, of 3607 Loftwood Drive, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating.
Mr. Richards, a native of Sterling, Ill., had retired as a Command Sergeant Major from the Army and as a security captain at Georgia Regional Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a Baptist.
The family said Mr. Richards was a husband and father who was a guiding light through the good and bad. He was loved and will be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen W. Richards; two sons, Michael Richards, Lincolnton, and Stevie Richards, Augusta; one daughter, Anne Bennett, Guyton; one stepson, Michael Farrow, Augusta; two stepdaughters, Becky Turner, Augusta, and Debbie Crawford, Hephzibah; one sister, Mable Fransen, Sterling, Ill.; and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the military.
