Mr. Sterling W. "Babe" Rearden, 69, of 2420 Danville St., died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road, with the Rev. Bobby Coleman officiating. Burial will be in West View Cemetery.
Mr. Rearden, a native of Detroit, had retired as a pipe fitter for Daniel Construction. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union and a member of the American Legion Post. He was an Army and Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Mixon Rearden; one daughter, Angela C. Elmy, Augusta; one brother, Jim B. Rearden, Perry, Fla.; two sisters, Vivian Deverell, Pell City, Ala., and Ann Lago, Tampa, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be deacons of the Cornerstone Fellowship Church.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
