Ex-Jaguar Rowland takes title

DAVENPORT, Fla. -- Former Augusta State University golfer Roger Rowland of Ocala, Fla., fired a final-round 7-under 65 for a 271 total and won the Hooters Tour Michelob Classic by two strokes at RidgeWood Lakes Country Club Sunday.

Georgian Dicky Thompson of Peachtree City closed with a 67 for 273 and second place. Greg Towne was third at 274 after a 67.

Rowland had the lead starting the third round, but lost it briefly to Steve Ford and Kyle Owen. Ford finished tied for fourth at 276 after a final round 71. He had a 2-shot lead during his first nine holes, but bogeyed Nos. 11, 17 and 18. Owen bogeyed the eighth and 10th holes before making a birdie at the 18th. He finished tied for eighth place at 278.
